Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity

Sheffield, UK

Sheffield Children's is at the heart of everything we do at Charity HQ. We come together as one team, delivering over and above the NHS provision and ultimately enhancing the patient and family experience. Our colleagues and stakeholders are all deeply proud of how the charity works together with Sheffield Children’s, to ensure that children and young people can receive the very best care, in the best possible environment. What we do. Here at Charity HQ we help to change children’s lives every day by supporting pioneering ground-breaking medical treatment and creating a comfortable and engaging environment at Sheffield Children’s. Donations, fundraising, sponsorship and everything in between help create a healthier future for children and young people who visit Sheffield Children’s. What makes Sheffield Children’s special? Most importantly it comes down to people - and we think the people who work here are amazing! Kindness and compassion are key, and our colleagues have those things in bucketloads. Every day, patients and their families tell us how caring and kind our colleagues have been, and how they’ve been made to feel safe and at home with us. We fund four key areas: A comfortable and engaging environment built with children in mind Specialist medical equipment New facilities to extend the range of treatment provided Research into the care, prevention and cure of childhood illnesses How we raise the money We raise the money in many different ways but most importantly it comes down to you, our supporters, getting involved. Here are a few ways we help to make the difference with your help: We help spread the word about how amazing Sheffield Children’s is. We organise charity events for you to take part in. Sponsorship and Gift Aid are an important way to raise much needed funds. We apply for funding via trusts and foundations. We help support you raise your target through your own event. We facilitate easy ways to donate through payroll giving, regular giving, texts, posters, buckets... the list is endless We support groups, schools, associations, businesses, organisation, individuals in as many ways as we can creating a lasting partnership We organise really fun projects like the Pride of Yorkshire!

Cavendish Cancer Care

Sheffield, UK

At Cavendish Cancer Care we are dedicated to improving the quality of life for local people affected by cancer. We see the person, not the disease, and each person who comes to us for help receives a tailored package of counselling and complementary therapies, which is designed to address their particular needs. Depending on the specific therapies chosen, and each person's biggest concerns, we can help to alleviate stress and anxiety, reduce physical symptoms such as pain and nausea, and also help to improve diet and sleep. Most importantly, however, we offer a safe and nurturing space where people can talk, think, make clearer decisions and take back some control over their situation. At Cavendish we don't just support the patient, but their carers and children too, and by offering our care to whole families, we help them in turn to better support each other. We also know how important it is that those affected by cancer have support throughout their journey with the disease, not just whilst they are having treatment. We are here for them at all stages from diagnosis to many years after treatment, and on as many occasions as they need us. National cancer plans recommend the type of support we offer, and we work closely with the NHS to ensure that our care is fully integrated with theirs. However, we receive very little money from them, not even enough to keep our doors open for three weeks each year. For the rest of the money we need to be there for those who need us, we rely on the generosity of local people and businesses, as well as the efforts of our dedicated volunteers and fundraisers.
