Just 16 when he died, Dan was one of the very last people anyone would have expected to come to harm from drugs. Tim, Fiona and Jacob felt if this could happen to someone like Dan, it could happen to anyone, and wanted to do all they could to prevent this. The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation exists to make sure no harm happens to another young person through drugs or alcohol, and that all other young people get to go home safely. We work with young people, families, teachers & professionals in schools, colleges and community groups. We have developed an evidence-based drug and alcohol education programme for young people, parents and teachers. Called “Making Safer Choices”it is based on practice that has been shown to be most effective. We also commissioned a verbatim play, ‘I Love You, Mum – I Promise I Won’t Die’, by award-winning playwright Mark Wheeller, using the words of Dan’s family and friends, in order to communicate these important issues creatively through a different medium. We funded a professional theatre-in-education tour of this play by StopWatch Theatre Company into schools and colleges across London in Spring 2017, and will be funding a second London tour for ten weeks from January 2018. We deliver drug and alcohol education workshops, provide planning and resources for schools to deliver our evidence-based drug and alcohol education programme in Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE), we offer drug and alcohol education workshops to parents and carers, and training to teachers and professionals. We are developing specialist resources for students with special educational needs, and for EAL students. We have developed interactive, drama-based workshops for year 6 pupils to prepare them for the transition to secondary school. We train year 12 students to become DSM Foundation Youth Ambassadors, to support our work, to advise our team, and to support parents and peers. We are doing all we can to try to prevent other families having to go through the pain of losing a child, and to stop the damage done by drugs to young lives.

Hello there, my name is Helen and I have been the full time Youth Worker at this church since 2010 and love working with the teenagers, but also everyone at this church. Everyone is so supportive of the youth ministry here and encourage me personally in my own faith. Here is a list of everything that we offer our 10-18's each week/ month: -Church and Junior Church: Sunday 10-11.30am- Free! -Tuesday Club: School years 6-8 from 7-8.30pm- 50p -Thursday Club: School years 9-13 from 7-9pm- Free! -1:1 Mentoring: in a cafe or at church, by appointment- Free! -Haslemere 10-13's: March 29 - April 1 (ages 10-13) -Haslemere 14-19's: April 1-6 & August 11-19 (ages 14-18) -And More... coffee catch ups, training for Junior Leaders and adult leaders, outings and general growing in faith!! -Messy Church, 1st Saturday of each month 4-6pm. -Holiday Club 1st week August 5-12 year olds We always need more funding to maintain good quality at all the projects we run. Old equipment always needs replacing! We are a non-profit charity and don't really charge the young people a fee for any of our projects. We know this is unique and people are very grateful, especially those families that are financially challenged.
