TAG Youth Clubs

Richmond, UK

TAG Youth Club aims to empower and optimise the potential of young people who have a disability between the ages of 8 and 25. This is achieved through a range of work, at both the youth centre and in the community; Youth Workers support young people through informal and experiential learning in order to gain knowledge, skills, make informal choices and to assist in their personal development. The charity treats all young people fairly and equally as individuals and aims to provide them with a safe, caring, well equipped environment which is accessible to all those who wish to attend, giving them the opportunity to participate in personal and social development activities including arts, drama, music and sport.

Having a Voice - Down2Earth Group

Teddington, UK

Help us to receive a donation of up to £1,000 from Starbucks through their RedCupCheer Campaign. Having a Voice - The Having a Voice project empowers people with Down’s syndrome to meet their peers, have their say and develop their self-confidence. The project was set up to inform the work of the national charity, the DSA, on the views and opinions of people with Down’s syndrome. Our largest group is called Down2Earth. Down2Earth is a diverse, lively group of adults with Down’s syndrome based in Teddington. They meet once a month, providing feedback on publications and coming up with ideas for new resources. They also talk about topics they choose for themselves and come up with ideas for what they would like to do as a group. The project has gone from strength to strength since it started in 2012, with 24 adults with Down’s syndrome now attending each month, and new potential members contacting us regularly. Having a Voice sessions provide valuable opportunities for this underrepresented group to discuss topics of importance to them and influence decision making in their lives and local communities. The DSA is working on setting up more groups across the country so that as many people with Down’s syndrome have the opportunity to get their voices heard.

3rd Teddington Scout Group

Teddington, UK

3rd Teddington Scout Group deserves support from Starbucks Red Cup Cheer because it will help the many young people in the scout group and also provide welcome encouragement to the adult volunteers involved in running it. 3rd Teddington is a local and well established scout group in the Richmond upon Thames Scout District and is totally reliant on fund raising to meet running costs so support from Starbucks Red Cup Cheer would be very welcome. 3rd Teddington Scout Group (registered charity no. 271430) is part of the Scout Association which is a voluntary organisation encouraging young people to make a positive contribution to their community by developing a love of the outdoors and teaching them through fun and challenging activities to be self reliant, caring, responsible and to show commitment. Scouting is driven by a set of values (the Scout Law and Scout Promise) that underpin everything we do. Scouting’s values are about trust, loyalty, respect, friendship, worldwide family, courage and making good use of time. Scouting is as popular as it has ever been and 3rd Teddington is a very successful scout group, providing scouting for 60 young people aged from 6 to 14 years of age. Our membership includes boys and girls. 3rd Teddington has an excellent team of willing volunteers several of whom have had life-long involvement with the scout group. We also encourage the parents of the young people to be involved because, as you can imagine, the numbers and age groups we are dealing with need high ratios of adult help.
