Beds for Kids is our new campaign to ensure that the 24 babies we have waiting for cots, and the 88 children we have waiting for beds, have their own safe place to sleep in before Christmas. The vulnerable families that Alice charity supports consider beds a luxury, not an essential, which is hard to believe isn’t it? Who can believe that we have children sleeping on the floor within our communities in Stoke and Newcastle, or sharing a bed with several siblings… it’s obscene and we want to do our bit to improve the situation.

We're a Christian based organisation that works with boys and girls aged from 5-18 years of age; open to all children and young people with faith, little faith or no faith. Across the UK & Republic of Ireland , The Boys' Brigade works with thousands of young people, many of whom have no other connection with the Church. Today we are working with over 60,000 children & young people in over 1500 companies (groups) every week. The Boys' Brigade provides a balanced programme of activities for children and young people from 5 to 18 years old. These resources have been developed to help volunteer youth leaders work in a relevant and creative way. We hope through these programmes they will be able to make a positive contribution to a young person's life and be able to share their faith. We're currently opening new groups in Stoke-on-Trent. Traditionally, we'd open just in churches, but in Stoke-on-Trent, we have an innovative approach and are opening where we are needed; we have groups in two primary schools and are partnering with the Young Carers Team from Stoke City Council to open a specialised group to cater for the special needs of young carers. Through another partnership, we are linking with Staffs Uni, to encourage students to volunteer in our groups. We run all sorts of exciting, age-appropriate activities for our members including sports, crafts, Duke Of Edinburgh Awards, games, competitions and weekends away. We have a fabulous building in Warslow (nr Leek) which our groups use as an activities base for holidays and weekends away - it needs updating and refreshing - so please let us know if you can help with hands on painting and decorating.
