Targeted Training - Moving Children Forward
Oswestry, UK
It may be hard to imagine not being able to hold your head upright to see the world around you, not being able to sit on your own, or stand independently; always needing the support of a carer or specialised chair. For the children we work with this is a heart-breaking reality. The Movement Centre is a UK registered charity. We help to address movement control issues, which many children with a brain injury or disability face. We do this through our unique therapy, Targeted Training. The children who visit The Movement Centre have cerebral palsy, global developmental delay or other problems of movement control. A course of therapy can help children to gain essential functional skills, which can make them far more independent. This can completely change their lives. Targeted Training was developed 20 years ago by The Movement Centre. It was created by drawing on specialist physiotherapy and bioengineering. We are based in Oswestry, Shropshire, but we work with children from across the UK. Since we were founded in 1996 we have supported more than 500 children and helped them gain independence and a better quality of life through increased movement control, but there is still so much to be done. Currently as many as 2,500 children are born every year, in the UK alone, who could benefit from Targeted Training. We want to reach as many children as possible and make a lifelong difference.
