When a family loses a child or young person, the effects are devastating for all who knew and loved them. It is important to provide support if and when required. In addition, it is important for families to know that they are not alone and that the feelings they are experiencing are often normal. At 2 Wish Upon a Star, we are working with the staff of emergency and critical units in hospitals in across Wales to offer immediate support to families following their loss. With the parents’ consent, the hospital staff on duty inform our immediate support worker of the loss. Once the family and the support worker agree, more formal support is offered the charity can provide 6-8 weeks of one to one sessions with a qualified counsellor. We are hoping to raise awareness in the local area and to raise funds as we're an entirely self funded charity. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch. We appreciate all support.

A group of people whose lives have been touched in some way by Breast Cancer. Some of us have been patients and others amongst the group do a wonderful job at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital supporting people through and after treatment. Others have supported a friend or loved one who has been affected. Giving to Pink aims to raise awareness of the need for a Specialist Breast Care Unit within Cwm Taf, a Centre of Excellence that South East Wales can be proud of.Our Breast Unit in Cwm Taf is one of the busiest in the country. The team of 3 Surgeons currently work on three sites (Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, Llwynypia & Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr). The equipment and facilities are old and in desperate need of replacing. We now need a new unit able to deliver care with advanced diagnostic facilities and advanced treatments. .“Giving to Pink” is a fundraising group raising money specifically for a “Specialist Breast Care Unit” within Cwm Taf University Health Board

This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development. I need to raise £800 for VSO who are one of the respected development charities that deliver ICS. This will allow them to continue to bring about positive change in the developing communities where they work.
