Triangle Adventure Playground 2017
London, UK
The Triangle Adventure Playground is an oasis of green space offering the young people (aged up to 18) of its sprawling local estates a safe space in which to develop physically, emotionally and socially.
The playground encourages children of varying abilities to extend themselves by experiment and exploration, all under the watchful eyes of its trained, professional play-workers. Our service is especially valued by parents and carers because after school and in the holidays the Triangle is, for many children, the only place to play or ‘hang out’ other than the streets, which enables their parents or carers to work or study in the knowledge that they are safe and secure.
Free of charge, and with its open access policy, we are especially proud that our playground is a happy, harmonious place for young people representative of the full range of London’s multi-cultural society. Activities include free adventure play, construction, gardening, cooking, sport, art and crafts, environmental activities, music, dance and drama. The playground holds an historic place in the development of play theory being the oldest adventure playground site in London. It was founded in 1957 and now provides challenging activities for over 1,000 young people.

Evelina London Children’s Hospital
London, UK
Children's services at Evelina London are mainly located in our state-of-the-art building alongside St Thomas' Hospital, but we also provide care to young patients in the community in Lambeth and Southwark. As part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, we are the second largest provider of children's services in London. Our vision is to be a world leading centre of life-changing care for children, young people and their families.
Based in a stunning purpose-built building at St Thomas', our hospital includes: 151 inpatient beds, including 20 intensive care beds, 46-cot neonatal unit, 5 operating theatres, plus 1 cardiac theatre in East Wing, St Thomas', a full children's imaging service with MRI scanner, x-ray and ultrasound, a kidney dialysis unit, an outpatients department and a medical day care unit, a hospital school, 'A hospital that does not feel like a hospital'.
With themed floors, a conservatory, rooms with views, sunlight and fresh air, Evelina London Children's Hospital was designed around the needs of children and their families.
It's a seven-storey glass-fronted building, featuring a four-storey conservatory and dramatic views of Lambeth Palace and Archbishop’s Park.
Inpatients are on the upper levels of the building, so children staying in hospital enjoy the best views. They also overlook the conservatory, the social heart of the building, housing a gallery and performance space and the hospital school.
The building is themed around the natural world, from the sea at ground level to the sky at the top. It has visual symbols to make getting around easier and themed artwork on the floor of each level.
Every donation we receive goes towards improving care for sick children. From life-saving research and the latest medical equipment, to the little things that help make the hospital less scary for our youngest patients.
