Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs that help deaf people to leave loneliness behind and reconnect with life. We offer a range of personalised services to help people with their hearing loss. Our clever hearing dogs are at the heart of what we do. They alert deaf people to life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm and other important sounds such as the oven timer, alarm clock and even baby monitors. Equally as importantly they provide love, companionship and emotional support. Since we began in 1982 we have matched nearly 2,500 hearing dogs with deaf people. With the number of people with hearing loss ever-increasing, the demand for our services is growing. Please consider donating to Hearing Dogs. The club has over 30 teams with boys and girls aged 6-18. The managers and coaches of all the teams are volunteers and spend over 4 hours a week coaching and training the children, and even more organising and carrying out admin duties for their teams. As a minimum these volunteers are expected to have their level one coaching certificate which costs £165, and on top of this they must also have a CRB, first aid qualification and take a safeguarding children course all of which must be renewed every 3 years. All of the managers spend their own time learning to coach, watching training videos and finding out more about how to run their teams. Many also try to take part in further FA led courses aimed at improving coaching skills and helping to coach specifically to young children. The financial cost of these courses is a barrier to many willing volunteers that would otherwise help to improve the clubs ability to provide coaching and football to more youngsters. The funding allows us to help more volunteers gain their coaching qualifications and in turn provide opportunities for young children to be involved in sport. The coaching sessions will help us to get girls interested and involved in playing football and provide a player pathway from school sports to club football. The impact of this training would help the club in supporting nearly 500 children every year and it would last for many years. The club has grown over the last 30 years into one of the biggest in the country, but has stuck to its grass roots, supporting local children and providing free use to local schools, community groups and other charities. It couldn't do this without the 100's of volunteer hours put in every week.
