This page allows Volunteers within Feed the Homeless Bristol to provide information on their availability to "Walk" on a particular night that the charity operates. The charity operates around central Bristol feeding the homeless people who look to our support for a hot meal, produce, fruit, snacks and a hot or cold drink. It allows the walkers to see fellow volunteers and what equipment may be needed that evening. Once a desired amount of volunteers has been reached, you may be added to the "reserve list" and if willing, contacted should circumstances change and someone has to drop out. Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) provide the critical care and air ambulance service for 2.1 million people across the counties of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and surrounding areas. Our crew attend the most critical incidents across the region by helicopter or by one of our two critical care cars. When someone is seriously ill or injured time is of the essence, and they need expert help fast. This is where we come in. The GWAAC Critical Care Team consists of a highly trained and experienced Pilot, a Specialist Paramedic in Critical Care and a Critical Care Doctor. From emergency blood transfusions to roadside amputations or treating cardiac arrests, our crew specialise in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine and Trauma Medicine, bringing the skills and expertise of an Emergency Department to the patient. In 2024, we received a total of 2,272 call-outs to people in urgent need across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, and parts of Wiltshire. As a charity we need to raise over £6 million each year to stay operational, but receive no day to day funding from the Government or National Lottery. This means we rely on the generosity of our donors and supporters to keep flying.

A local residents group, South Lockleaze & Purdown Neighbourhood Group C.I.C., has just been approved a 10 year lease on the doomed Eastville library, after council cuts meant this space was selected for closing. The only community facility in the area, we have set out to take on this building & turn it into a 100% volunteer run social hub, with community space & garden, running activities, workshops, crafts, community cafe, book swap, computer space, edible garden & play area, that can bring together everyone within our community and give us a platform to make change. This project is open for everyone to get involved, and relies on the community to make it what they want, with skill sharing, donations & fundraising activities to help get us off the ground, followed by a portion of the space to be partitioned and hired for activities to help make the space self-sustainable. The rest of the building will be publicly open and aim to provide low cost or free activities, coffee mornings & elderly groups, games, a community book swap & lounge space, and a cafe in walking distance from over 1000+ homes, in an area lacking any facilities or investment. We are a registered Community Interest Company and the residents so far have got through to this stage after many late nights, interviews, meetings, business plans, procedure writing & googling, and are now looking to see if any local people, organisations or businesses could help give us the support we need to really get this off the ground. The council aims to hand over the keys for the space as of the 1st May. We want to be able to open the doors as soon as possible to ensure those who already use the space can continue & we can start providing a basic functionality cafe, a space for meeting the neighbours & start running "make-days" where everyone can come along and help make the space beautiful through crafts & upcycling any furniture we can get our hands on, help fill the empty shelves, build a partition & breathe some life into the space! We are feeling excited but also recognise the major challenge we are taking on, but believe this will become a space that shows that through community spirit, hard work and coming together around a common interest, we can make a real change for the lives of people around us.
