Mamas Bristol

Bristol, UK

Supporting families across the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas since March 2018 to reduce costs and save money, reduce waste and the amount that goes to landfill and finally, create a stronger community spirit. At Mamas Bristol, we believe in the power of community and collective action to create positive change. Our ethos is rooted in a multiple pronged approach; affordability, sustainability, and inclusivity across the community. Affordability: We are committed to supporting families by providing access to resources and solutions that reduce costs of living with and raising dependents. By offering practical guidance, we aim to alleviate financial pressures and empower families to thrive.  Sustainability: We recognise the importance of preserving our planet for future generations. That's why we promote and work towards sustainable practices & promote opportunities that minimise waste and environmental impact.  Community: At the heart of everything we do, is a strong sense of community. We believe in the strength of solidarity and collaboration to address common challenges and achieve shared goals. By fostering connections and building relationships, we create a support network where families can find solidarity, encouragement, and inspiration. We are more than just a Facebook group, an organisation or any one person - we are a movement. A movement dedicated to making a difference in the lives of families, our communities, and the world we share.

Penguin Volunteering 2022/23

Welcome to the Penguin volunteering page! Purpose is one of our core values at Penguin Random House UK - we want to make the world a better place in both big and small ways. Using our time and talents to volunteer can make a big difference to a charity or local community organisation. It can also have a positive impact on our own personal development, helping us to see the world a little differently and giving us a chance to use our skills in a new environment. For this reason, we support all Penguin Random House UK colleagues to take up to two Volunteer Days every year. Below you'll find a range of volunteering opportunities to get involved with - scroll down to find out more and sign up.

World Book Day Volunteering 2023

World Book Day is our biggest single volunteering effort each year. Every March over 500 colleagues from Penguin Random House UK volunteer in schools and communities local to our sites and some of the most literacy-vulnerable parts of London. Colleagues deliver storytelling sessions to little ones and reading activities in primary schools. They also facilitate interactive careers workshops with teenagers in secondary schools and host book club discussions with adults in homeless shelters, community centres and care homes.

Penguin Christmas: It Begins with a Book

A boost of confidence, the perfect recipe, the adventure of a lifetime - it begins with a book. But not everyone has equal access to reading, and the COVID-19 crisis has made that inequality more pronounced. At Penguin, we aim to give everyone access to books.
