For the last 20 years, HAOS has been enhancing the life chances of our children, young people and families through school enrichment, youth social action and family health and wellbeing projects. As an independent charity, we work to bring together schools and communities in Handsworth, an inner-city area high in deprivation and diversity. Handsworth has a BAME population over 60% with low incomes and high levels of poverty being prevalent. 51% of Birmingham's current asylum claimants are living in this area. Holyhead school in Handsworth reported in 2020 that it had three times the national average number of pupils receiving free school meals, typical of most schools our area with 45% of children are trapped below the poverty line. We offer opportunities to hundreds of children and young people each year to help build their confidence, extend positive social networks, improve wellbeing, reduce anti-social behaviour and develop skills and goals for life. HAOS understands that family life has a huge effect on children's development and attainment, and we work community wide to support wellbeing from running a busy foodbank, delivering mental health programs, and providing holiday and after school schemes for hundreds of children and young people each year and training professionals.

Support for northern pakistan earthquake area in partnership with midlands international muslim relief with special camps doing cataract operations for free ( did 197 this year(. also supporting trelawny area of jamaica in partnership with the charity tora. provided medical relief to gaza hospital. supplied tents direct to haiti. provided water wells and seed growing project in niger with adra. we have built a primary school in Zimbabwe and expanded that to provide education for very poor children. We provide free eye camps to treat cataracts in many countries such as Pakistan and kashmir. We have provided direct aid to those who have suffered from floods in Kerala to replace their fishing boats, plant coconut plantations and water storage tanks. We refresh the parts that larger charities do not reach with direct evidence based supply of aid. We also provide food for joint muslim\ christian meals for the homeless during Ramadan and support various youth summer programmes here in walsall. We have provided new toilets and water bore holes in small schools in Kashmir where there were none.

The Real Junk Food Project Central is a Community Interest Company established in August 2017. We intercept edible food destined for waste from supermarkets, restaurants and shops, and make it available for human consumption through our network of local, community-focused cafes and food boutiques. We also offer unique events catering and bespoke training under our TRJFP Academy. Everything we do is always Pay As You Feel, and welcoming of people from all walks of life. You are welcome to pay for your food in cash, time, skills, or anything else you can think of! We operate on a bottom-up philosophy, where local cafes and food boutiques are run by representatives of their community.
